Job Summary
We are seeking a Registered Manager to lead a new SOLO children’s home in central Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with Ofsted registration experience or a senior role background to manage and develop a high-quality care environment for young residents. The role involves overseeing the home’s resources to ensure a positive, safe, and supportive living experience for children.
Reports to: Head of Care.
Role Overview
As the Registered Manager, you will oversee the children’s home, manage staff, and ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support staff, providing feedback and development opportunities.
- Safeguard children and ensure policies are followed.
- Regularly review care plans, risk assessments, and ensure outcomes are met.
- Foster a supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Ensure a safe, positive living space for children and encourage community involvement.
- Lead staff recruitment, training, and development aligned with the home’s objectives.
- Manage budgets and oversee financial processes.
- Contribute to reviews for young people and prepare them for independence.
- Ensure health and safety protocols are followed for both children and staff.
Qualifications
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
- Secondary Education with literacy and numeracy skills.
- Valid driving licence.
- Enhanced DBS check required (employer covers cost).
Experience & Skills
- 2+ years’ experience in Residential Care, ideally in a senior or management role.
- Proven leadership and staff management experience (1+ year).
- Experience working with children with complex needs and behaviours.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and quality standards.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
- Ability to manage budgets and carry out audits effectively.
- Knowledge of Reg 44/Reg 45 reporting and children’s home regulations.
